An Exclusive Interview with Santanu Halder: Transforming Education Through Technology, Passion, and Lifelong Learning
Interviewer: Mr. Santanu Halder, thank you for joining us today. To begin, could you tell our readers a little about yourself and your professional journey?
Santanu Halder: Thank you for inviting me. It is truly a pleasure to share my journey with your readers. My name is Santanu Halder, and I have been associated with the field of education for many years. I currently serve as an Assistant Professor (SACT) in the Department of English at Dinabandhu Mahavidyalaya, West Bengal. Teaching has always been much more than a profession for me—it has been a lifelong commitment to helping students discover their potential and develop confidence through knowledge. Over the years, I have taught hundreds of students, guided them through literature and language, and witnessed how education can transform lives. However, my professional journey has never been limited to the classroom. I have always believed that learning should evolve with changing times, and this belief has inspired me to explore digital education, instructional design, online course creation, and educational technology. Today, my mission is to combine traditional teaching with modern digital platforms so that quality education becomes accessible, affordable, and engaging for learners regardless of their location.
Interviewer: Every successful career has its share of challenges. What were some of the biggest obstacles you faced, and how did they shape you?

Santanu Halder: Like many educators, my journey has been filled with both rewarding moments and difficult experiences. The teaching profession demands patience, resilience, and continuous self-improvement. There have been times when institutional limitations, administrative responsibilities, and financial constraints made it difficult to pursue larger dreams. Yet I have always believed that challenges are not roadblocks; they are opportunities to reinvent ourselves. Instead of allowing circumstances to discourage me, I chose to invest my time in learning new technologies, understanding online education, exploring digital marketing, and acquiring practical skills that could help me reach learners beyond the physical classroom. Every setback became a lesson, every disappointment became a source of motivation, and every challenge strengthened my determination to create something meaningful for students. Looking back today, I realize that those struggles taught me resilience, adaptability, and the courage to keep moving forward despite uncertainty.
Interviewer: What inspired you to enter the world of online education?
Santanu Halder: The inspiration came from a simple observation. I noticed that many students, especially those living in small towns and rural areas, had immense potential but lacked access to quality educational resources. Physical classrooms have their limitations, but digital education has the power to remove geographical barriers. I realized that if knowledge could be delivered through well-designed online courses, recorded lectures, practical assignments, and interactive learning experiences, thousands of students could benefit simultaneously. This realization encouraged me to study learning management systems, website development, course automation, and digital content creation. My goal is not merely to upload video lectures but to create complete learning ecosystems where students receive structured guidance, motivation, and practical knowledge that they can apply in real life.
Interviewer: We understand that you are developing your own online learning platform. Could you tell us more about this initiative?
Santanu Halder: Certainly. Building an online learning platform has been one of the most exciting projects of my career. I wanted to create an educational environment that combines professional course design with user-friendly technology. The platform is being developed using WordPress along with Tutor LMS, WooCommerce, Elementor Pro, and CartFlows to ensure that students enjoy a seamless learning experience from registration to course completion. My vision is to offer affordable, high-quality recorded courses that students can access anytime and from anywhere. I strongly believe that technology should simplify learning rather than complicate it. Therefore, every aspect of the platform is being designed with the learner’s convenience in mind—from easy enrolment to automated course access and structured learning paths.
Interviewer: Your interests extend beyond English literature. Could you elaborate on your multidisciplinary approach to education?
Santanu Halder: I have always believed that true education goes beyond textbooks and examinations. While English language and literature remain my academic foundation, I have developed a deep interest in personal development, communication skills, productivity, digital entrepreneurship, educational technology, and lifelong learning. The modern learner requires more than academic knowledge; they need practical skills, confidence, critical thinking, and the ability to adapt to a rapidly changing world. This multidisciplinary approach enables me to design courses that are not only informative but also transformative. I want my students to become confident individuals who are capable of solving problems, embracing change, and continuously learning throughout their lives.
Interviewer: How do you define success?
Santanu Halder: Success, in my opinion, cannot be measured solely by income, awards, or professional titles. True success lies in creating meaningful impact. If a student gains confidence because of something I taught, secures employment after completing one of my courses, or discovers a new direction in life through education, I consider that a genuine achievement. Financial growth is certainly important because it provides stability and allows us to expand our work, but the deeper satisfaction comes from knowing that our efforts have improved someone else’s life. I believe success is a continuous journey of learning, contributing, and growing rather than a destination that one reaches once and for all.
Interviewer: Technology is transforming education at an unprecedented pace. How do you see the future of learning?
Santanu Halder: We are witnessing one of the most exciting periods in the history of education. Artificial intelligence, adaptive learning systems, automation, and digital platforms are redefining how knowledge is delivered and consumed. However, despite these technological advancements, I believe the role of a dedicated teacher remains irreplaceable. Technology should empower educators, not replace them. In the future, learning will become increasingly personalized, flexible, and skill-oriented. Students will expect practical knowledge that directly contributes to their personal and professional growth. As educators, we must continuously update ourselves so that we remain relevant in this changing landscape. The future belongs to teachers who are willing to embrace innovation while preserving the human values that lie at the heart of education.
Interviewer: What motivates you to continue learning after so many years in academia?
Santanu Halder: Curiosity has always been my greatest teacher. Every new skill I acquire opens the door to another area of learning. Whether it is educational technology, website development, digital marketing, instructional design, artificial intelligence, or course creation, I genuinely enjoy the process of exploring new ideas. Continuous learning keeps the mind active, expands our perspective, and enables us to serve students more effectively. I believe that an educator who stops learning gradually loses the ability to inspire others. Therefore, I try to remain a lifelong student while fulfilling my responsibilities as a teacher.
Interviewer: What advice would you give to young educators who are beginning their careers today?
Santanu Halder: My advice would be simple yet sincere. Never stop learning. Build your expertise, but also develop practical skills that complement your academic knowledge. Embrace technology rather than fearing it. Focus on creating value instead of chasing quick success. Most importantly, remember that every student is unique and deserves encouragement, patience, and respect. Teaching is not merely about completing a syllabus; it is about shaping human lives. If you approach your profession with integrity, empathy, and continuous self-improvement, success will naturally follow.
Interviewer: Finally, what are your future aspirations?
Santanu Halder: I aspire to build a comprehensive digital education ecosystem that serves learners across India and beyond. I want to create high-quality online courses, publish educational books, mentor aspiring educators, and develop learning resources that combine academic excellence with practical application. I also hope to contribute to educational innovation by integrating technology, creativity, and learner-centred methodologies. Above all, I wish to be remembered not simply as a teacher, but as someone who inspired people to believe in themselves, embrace lifelong learning, and use education as a tool for personal transformation. If my work can encourage even a small number of individuals to pursue their dreams with confidence and determination, I will consider my career truly meaningful.
Interviewer: Thank you, Mr. Halder, for sharing your inspiring journey and thoughtful insights. We wish you continued success in all your future endeavours.
Santanu Halder: Thank you very much. It has been an honour to share my experiences. I hope my journey encourages readers to keep learning, embrace change, and never underestimate the power of education to transform lives.
